Couture ChocolatePosted April 25, 2018 by Kate Elizabeth
It was love at first sight when I first walked into the exclusive French chocolatier Forrey and Galland located in the Dubai Mall. Up until this point, living on the other side of the world, I had only been privy to their Instagram page which is filled with beautifully styled images of their edible works of art. It was hard to know where to look first. Immediately your eye is drawn to the incredible chandelier toward the back of the store which is so captivating you are oblivious to what brought in, in the first place- couture chocolates. When your trance is finally broken you take the time to wander the rest of the boutique to see a plethora of exquisitely decorated dates, chocolates, macarons and arabic sweets. I knew then I wouldn’t be leaving the store empty handed. Not just with product but an also a memorable experience. The genius of this French chocolatier doesn’t stop there. The artists at Forrey and Galland will ensure your special occasion has a visionary difference thanks to their amazing themed sculptures which house the exquisite sweets. From carousels and doll houses for baby showers to macaron towers for weddings… these statement displays are sure to make an impact for any special occasion! After the very helpful staff had assisted me with my selection of sweets we then discussed the beautiful packaging options. Of course extraordinary chocolates cannot be presented in an ordinary way so I chose a white glossy lacquered wooden box which revealed three levels of gold trays to house my sweets. They take their presentation seriously here. This is a destination store and will not disappoint. If you’re looking for a beautiful gift that is sure to impress, a romantic grand gesture or to simply spoil yourself then this is the store for you.
Pierre and Neds Epic Maldives ProposalPosted April 22, 2018 by Kate Elizabeth
How he asked… Christmas Day 2016 we spent with Ned’s family down in Melbourne and I have worked with his brother to help with the perfect timing to ask Ned’s parents. Whilst his brother occupied him with monotonous tasks, I had the perfect opportunity to ask the parents. I’ve always had several ideas of how I would like this day to work out, but this day was different, it had to be all about Ned and it had to be the best day of his life. I knew it had to be somewhere special, somewhere exotic and somewhere unforgettable. Because both of us enjoy travelling, I mentioned to Ned that I’ll come up with our holiday plans and make it a bit of an amazing race experience, without him knowing where we’ll race to. My head had millions of ideas, and I could not have asked for a better partner in crime to execute this. I teamed up with Kate Elizabeth from Kate Elizabeth Proposal Planning and Special Occasions to execute what was in my head. From the first moment I spoke to Kate, I knew she would be able to decipher what’s in my head in come up with the most memorable day. Because we both like travelling and outdoor activities so much, the whole proposal was staged to reflect this. We worked through several concepts to come up with the most perfect day. The result of the collaboration ended up with a concept that would see us parasail into our own private island in the Maldives, where we would eventually have a special picnic, I would reveal an iPad in a treasure chest, buried in the sand telling our story, and then the big moment to propose. To make sure Ned didn’t get any hint of what was going on, Kate dealt with all vendors and the resort on my behalf and made sure everything is seamless and perfect. Two days before our arrival in the Maldives, Kate had already arrived and started preparing the crew. On the morning of 18 April 2017, we went to breakfast as normal and shortly after finishing breakfast I told Ned that I had a fun day planned for us. We had a quick change of clothes and met the crew at the Centara Ras Fushi Diving Centre. We got on a private speedboat and started parasailing around the islands, but little did Ned know that we were heading to our own private island where we would have a picnic, and eventually I’ll get down on one knee. When we got closer to the island, he started realising, that that, was probably where we were heading as we could see the picnic set up as we approached. On arrival, we were met by the beautiful team from Centara Ras Fushi Maldives that worked behind the scenes with Kate to set up the island. We were taken to a sand art sculpture that the crew especially made for us as a welcoming gift and we were then shown to our picnic setting where we sat down for some champagne, fresh fruit and handcrafted delicatessens. Kate sourced a small treasure chest that was buried in the sand , next to our sun lounges where an iPad was hidden with a custom made sand art video, that told our story, from the day we met up until that moment. When I was finally able to contain my excitement and nerves, I opened the treasure chest and revealed the iPad to Ned. We sat down together and watched the video. Once we completed watching the video, I had to dig into the treasure chest where we buried the ring. I knelt down on one knee and asked Ned for his hand in marriage. Nico & Mikey Flash Mob ProposalPosted November 28, 2017 by Kate Elizabeth
Mikey and I met each other exactly one year ago on the day I proposed at Fitness First Gym, Kings Cross, Sydney. Both of us were too shy to talk to one another for a long time until I finally said hello. When I met Mike for our first date, it was simply amazing and I felt an instant connection. Our first date felt like we were already in a relationship. He picked me up after he finished work, we went to the supermarket, bought food for a BBQ, then went to his place and prepared and cooked the food together. We both previously had been in long term relationships but they were relationships that never had the feeling of ‘I want to spend the rest of my life with this guy’. With Mike it’s been such an amazing feeling from the start and the spark never left; it only continued to get stronger and still continues to grow every day. I consider myself a gay man with a straight mind and Mike was a lot like me. We are both strong on family, kids, and animals and are ready to build a life together. We started off slowly and our love grew day by day until one day I realised that it was with him that I wanted to spend the rest of my life. For the proposal, I knew I wanted to organise something cool. My first idea was to fly to Italy because that’s where I am from, to a very romantic location but I couldn’t afford it, so my second idea was to have a dance flash mob. I like dancing, I’m a loud person and for me this was a way for me to be loud in a different way; to be able to shout out my love for Mike. I knew it would be hard to keep this as a surprise as Mike and I don’t keep secrets from each other, so I found Kate Elizabeth Proposal Planning through Gay Sydney Australia and from there we built a team which I worked with for 2mths to create the ultimate surprise for Mike. I chose Nader Jewellers to create a custom engagement ring for Mikey. The experience and service there was so wonderful, I returned last week to have a matching ring made for myself. This proposal was also a way to send a message that “love is love” no matter what your sexuality is. That’s why I chose two Beyoncé songs “Love on top” and “End of time” to dance to. I also wanted one day to be able to re live that moment with Mike so I wanted to create something memorable. Perhaps one day when we are old and we can share it with our children.
